ONE-BLUE presents its first conclusions and updates from the sampling campaigns in the Irish Sea and the northern Adriatic Sea

  • Experts will address the current challenges facing the protection of the oceans and the environment in the coming months.
  • The meeting is part of the European Maritime Day In My Country initiative, a series of events promoted by the European Commission to raise awareness about the importance of the oceans and seas and to engage the public.

ONE-BLUE project will organize a webinar named “ONE-BLUE DISCUSSING CHALLENGES IN THE OCEAN PROTECTION” on Tuesday, October 1st, serving as a meeting point to discuss the further challenges of ocean protection. This event is part of the European Maritime Day In My Country 2024 (EMD 2024), organized by the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission to raise awareness, promote and debate European environmental maritime policy and engage the public.

Partners of the project will present the latest updates on ONE-BLUE, which are focused on the first conclusions from the sample campaigns that took place during summer on the Irish Sea and in the North Adriatic Sea. Then, initiatives aligned with EMD 2024 and environmental journalists will offer their point of view on the current challenges that ocean and environmental protection are facing in the following months. In case you want to attend our webinar, you can register here.

The webinar will serve as a meeting point for stakeholders from the sector, such as environmental agencies, journalists, researchers, scientists, and other EU-funded projects, among others. In addition, the event will be attended by entities that have already organized events within the framework of the EMD 2024. In this way, ONE-BLUE will be able to interact directly with entities and people related to maritime affairs and establish valuable synergies that will be key to the dissemination of the importance of ocean protection and raising awareness about the impact of contaminants of emerging concerns.

Ocean protection, at the forefront with the ONE-BLUE

ONE-BLUE will hold its second webinar, reaffirming its commitment to European initiatives focused on ocean protection and environmental issues. Building on the momentum of its first event, this session took a deeper dive into the collaborative efforts necessary to safeguard our oceans, highlighting the role of synergies in advancing ocean restoration. This first webinar, “ONE-BLUE: Synergies for the Protection of the Oceans and the Marine Environment”, gathered some projects aligned with the EU Mission “Restore our Oceans and Waters”, where they presented to the audience their initiatives on environmental issues.
