• Represented by the Finnova Foundation, ONE-BLUE took part in the conference in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, connecting with stakeholders from across the Atlantic and Western Mediterranean to promote cooperation for healthier and more sustainable seas.

On 15 and 16 September 2026, ONE-BLUE participated in the Atlantic–WestMED Stakeholder Conference 2026 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, represented by project partner Finnova Foundation.

The conference brought together stakeholders from the Atlantic and Western Mediterranean regions, including European institutions, researchers, public authorities, businesses, organisations and EU-funded projects. Its main objective was to strengthen cooperation between the two sea basins and identify synergies around shared maritime and environmental challenges.

Under the theme “Building synergies for a sustainable ocean”, the event addressed topics such as healthy oceans and biodiversity, coastal resilience, ocean literacy and blue skills, sustainable tourism, maritime transport, renewable marine energy and the decarbonisation of the blue economy.

For ONE-BLUE, the conference provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the project and its research on contaminants of emerging concern in marine ecosystems, while exchanging knowledge and building connections with other initiatives working towards healthier and more resilient European seas.

Participation in events such as the Atlantic–WestMED Stakeholder Conference contributes to ONE-BLUE’s efforts to connect scientific research with the wider European ocean community and foster collaboration around the protection of marine ecosystems.
