New ONE-BLUE research presented at CAI2026 reveals how emerging contaminants, including plastic additives and pharmaceuticals, are distributed from the surface to the deep waters of the Spanish Mediterranean Sea.
The project joined the European Commission’s two-day forum in Brussels to present its work, exchange perspectives and strengthen cooperation on marine governance, sustainability and emerging pollutants
At an event at the European Committee of the Regions, the project underlined that scientific evidence, prevention at source and stronger territorial cooperation are essential to protect water resources, biodiversity and human health.
The hybrid event will bring together EU representatives, scientists and water-sector stakeholders to discuss how Europe can strengthen its response to emerging contaminants in aquatic ecosystems.
The event brought together representatives from European institutions, research organisations and EU-funded projects to discuss governance responses to emerging marine pollution.
