The EU-funded project ONE-BLUE will host the 2º Cross-sectorial meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, from 09:50 to 15:15 CEST. The event, that can be follow both in person and online, will bring together scientists, researchers and stakeholders to present results from field campaigns, discuss challenges in contaminant monitoring, and explore solutions for marine protection.
A video message from the European Commissioner for Mediterranean Ms. Dubravka Šuica, will be featured during the event, and a closing video message will be showcased from the Vice-Chair of EPP Group and member of the Fisheries Committee in the European Parliament, Željana Zovko. Head of Unit at DG MARE, Andreea Strachinescu, will also participate in the seminar and contribute to the discussion on EU Maritime Policy and the Blue Economy.
Connecting science, policy, and innovation
The meeting will include presentations on the latest advances in studying Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and climate effects on marine biota, fostering collaboration among consortium members. It provides a platform for sharing innovative approaches to preserve oceans, aligned with Europe’s commitment to environmental research.
Synergies with European research efforts
Funded under Horizon Europe with a budget exceeding €6.2 million, the event builds on ONE-BLUE’s ongoing work across Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Arctic regions to inform evidence-based marine policies. Participants will address current challenges and promote resilient aquatic ecosystems through knowledge exchange.
About ONE-BLUE
ONE-BLUE is a Horizon Europe project aimed at assessing the impact of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and climate change on marine biodiversity and biota. The consortium is conducting over 800 sample collections across the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans to strengthen the understanding of pollution dynamics and inform evidence-based EU policies for marine protection.
