• The European project took part in an international dialogue platform focused on resilience, innovation and sustainable development for island territories

The European project ONE-BLUE was presented at the Global Sustainable Islands Summit 2026, held in Gran Canaria from 20 to 22 April, an international forum of reference on sustainability, resilience and innovation in island territories. The event brings together institutional leaders, experts and international stakeholders to share experiences, promote solutions and foster new partnerships to address the major environmental and social challenges facing islands.

The presentation of ONE-BLUE was delivered by Adrián Noheda, European Project Manager at Finnova, a partner entity in the project consortium. During the event, the work carried out by ONE-BLUE on the study of emerging contaminants in marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean, the Arctic and the Atlantic was presented, together with its contribution to advancing research, European cooperation and scientific knowledge on the impact of these contaminants on the marine environment.

Participation in this summit reinforces the visibility of ONE-BLUE in a strategic space for international dialogue, particularly relevant as it is being held in Gran Canaria, an Atlantic enclave with growing importance in island sustainability and cooperation between Europe, Africa and the Americas. In this context, the project’s presence helped place the issue of emerging contaminants within a broader conversation on resilience, environmental governance and the protection of marine ecosystems.
