ONE-BLUE participates in WEX Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 in Lisbon

  • The European project will be represented by Finnova Foundation at the international summit, which brings together experts and innovators to address emerging environmental challenges and advance the circular bioeconomy.

Lisbon, 31 October 2026. The European project ONE-BLUE, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, will be represented at the WEX Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 2 to 4 November, through project partner Finnova Foundation and its CEO, Juan Manuel Revuelta.

The Summit brings together international experts, researchers, industry representatives and innovators to explore solutions for sustainable resource management, water treatment, waste valorisation and the transition towards a circular bioeconomy.

Juan Manuel Revuelta, CEO of Finnova Foundation, will participate in the WEX-BIO Innovation Forum, a session dedicated to connecting technological innovation with industry needs and opportunities for the development and commercial deployment of sustainable solutions. Finnova is also an Institutional Support Partner of the Summit.

Emerging contaminants and marine ecosystem protection

Emerging contaminants are among the environmental challenges addressed in the Summit’s programme, highlighting the importance of scientific research, technological innovation and international collaboration in improving water quality and protecting aquatic ecosystems.

This focus is closely aligned with the objectives of ONE-BLUE, which investigates contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), including pharmaceuticals, microplastics and other chemical pollutants, and their impacts on marine biodiversity and ecosystems under changing climatic conditions.

The project conducts research across three major marine regions — the Atlantic, Arctic and Mediterranean — to improve scientific understanding of the distribution, behaviour and effects of emerging contaminants.

Through advanced monitoring technologies, innovative assessment methodologies and the development of scientific databases, ONE-BLUE aims to generate knowledge that can support evidence-based environmental policies and more effective marine protection strategies.

Connecting scientific research and sustainable innovation

ONE-BLUE’s presence at WEX Global 2026 offers an opportunity to strengthen the connection between scientific research, sustainable innovation and international cooperation.

By bringing together stakeholders from the water, energy, environmental and biotechnology sectors, the Summit provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and exploring solutions to shared sustainability challenges.

Through Finnova Foundation’s participation, ONE-BLUE reinforces the importance of integrating scientific evidence into broader discussions on water management, environmental sustainability and the circular bioeconomy.
